…to Little Gaddesden Bowls & Croquet Club

We are a small, friendly club that, uniquely in the West Herts area, can offer its members the choice of playing bowls or croquet or both sports.

We started, we believe, sometime in the 1920s, as the British Legion Bowls Club – an offshoot of the Little Gaddesden Branch of the Royal British Legion which was itself founded in 1923. For many years the club used a green behind the Bridgewater Arms Public House, but in May 1986 moved to its attractive rural location in Church Road in the heart of Little Gaddesden village within the National Trust’s Ashridge Estate. In 2011 a Croquet section was formally established and several of our members now enjoy both sports. A version of croquet known as Golf Croquet is mainly played at the club.

The club is managed and operates on a voluntary basis by its members.

We are affiliated to Bowls England, Hertfordshire Bowls and Croquet England.

We welcome new members whether novices or experienced players.
